Chocolate madness

Ok so this week I spent my time making chocolates with lots of different fillings. I managed to completely cover myself, my kitchen and somehow my mum (who insisted on licking the leftovers in the bowls) in hot sticky chocolate but it was great fun. Everyone loved them and said that they were so much more delicious than shop bought one’s.

Flavours included:-

Milk chocolate and honeycomb

Milk chocolate and hazelnut

Milk chocolate and fudge

Milk chocolate and berries

White chocolate and raspberries

White ย chocolate and cranberries

And especially for Mummy Marnie white chocolate with lemon curd ๐Ÿ™‚

All of my chocolates went down very well with Grandad Ramsden, who ate as many of his and everyone else’s that he could then hid the rest on top of the kitchen cupboards so that he could have them later. Chocolate making was a lot of fun and fairly quick to do. I will definitely be doing them again ๐Ÿ™‚

Fun Friday’s

So this week has been absolutely manic, I ended up with 2 cupcake orders to complete for Friday. So that meant baking the cupcakes on Wednesday night as well as making the sugar paste bits to bit on the cupcakes. Then on Thursday I was icing them, which one set required pink icing and the other blue icing.

I had great fun and learnt from my mistakes along the way:-

1. black sugar paste doesn’t dry

2. pink cupcakes just come out normal colour when baked

3. dry sugar paste goes soggy again when it is put in butter icing

but all is well that ends well, and my 2 clients were ecstatic about their cupcakes when i delivered them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Food, recipes, cooking and eating are things that can effect our everyday, day to day. Whether it’s a staple food to keep you going or the most fabulous meal you can imagine. It effects everything even by the looks of it our reading: –

“Oh, it can’t be a reference to the fact Harry’s a great Seeker, that’s way too obvious. There must be a secret message from Dumbledore hidden in the icing!” – JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt1

I love cooking and trying out new recipes, whether it’s a simple soup, an elaborate roast or some fantastic cupcakes. So I thought I would write and photograph what I get up to. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ๐Ÿ™‚
